Boruto: Naruto the Movie plot recap, spoiler-light
Fifteen years after the Fourth Great Ninja War, Konohagakure thrives under the leadership of the Seventh Hokage, Naruto Uzumaki. Naruto is married to Hinata Hyuga and shares two children with her, Boruto and Himawari. Boruto harbors deep resentment toward his father, believing that official duties always take precedence over family.
Alongside teammates Sarada Uchiha and Mitsuki, Boruto trains under Konohamaru Sarutobi. Seeking a way to surpass and impress his neglectful father, Boruto persuades Sasuke Uchiha to take him on as an apprentice. Sasuke agrees on the condition that the boy learns the Rasengan.
Struggling with the training, Boruto secretly resorts to using a prohibited Scientific Ninja Tool provided by Katasuke. Although Boruto uses this device to cheat and advance through the Chunin Exams, Naruto discovers the deception and publicly disqualifies him. Before their strained relationship can be mended, powerful antagonists Momoshiki and Kinshiki Ōtsutsuki launch a sudden assault on the arena, targeting the Nine-Tailed Fox sealed inside Naruto.
