Hunting Season plot recap, spoiler-light
In the remote woods of Oklahoma, a rugged off-the-grid survivalist named Bo raises his quick-witted teenage daughter Tag following the tragic loss of her mother. Their isolated routine is disrupted when Tag discovers a wounded woman named January in the river, fleeing from a violent criminal named Alejandro and the Brotherhood cartel. Despite Bo's initial hesitation, they bring January into their cabin to recover.
They soon learn that January and her roommate Lizzie were targeted due to Lizzie's connection to a former cartel associate named Jenson. After discovering Lizzie's lifeless body downstream, Bo realizes they are in grave danger. Local thugs track January to their area, prompting Bo to eliminate them and seek help from his trusted friend, Sheriff Brake.
Believing January will be safe under the sheriff's protection, Bo watches them leave. However, when Brake goes missing and a cartel operative named Davenport confirms the sheriff has been murdered, Bo takes matters into his own hands. He extracts the cartel's location from Davenport through brutal means, leaving Tag a startling letter about her imprisoned mother before heading out to confront Alejandro and his men alone.
