My Little Monster plot recap, spoiler-light
My Little Monster follows Shizuku Mizutani, a studious and detached girl whose sole focus is securing her future through stellar grades. Her solitary routine is disrupted when she is assigned to deliver school printouts to Haru Yoshida, a habitual truant with a fearsome, violent reputation. Despite his scary exterior, Haru immediately embraces Shizuku as his very first friend.
As they spend time together, Shizuku discovers that Haru is actually innocent, gentle, and profoundly naive about how people interact. Although Haru quickly confesses his romantic feelings, Shizuku struggles for much longer to recognize and process her own developing emotions. Both characters share a history of social isolation, which makes their growing bond all the more significant.
Together, they slowly learn how to care for one another, bridging the gap between their isolated worlds. Through various interactions with their peers, the duo confronts their personal shortcomings and emotional barriers, slowly opening up to the possibility of genuine friendship and romantic affection as their relationship deepens.
