Paprika plot recap, spoiler-light
In a near-future world, a revolutionary technology called the DC Mini allows scientists to record and enter human dreams. Dr. Atsuko Chiba uses this device illegally under her dream alter-ego, Paprika, to help psychiatric patients.
When three prototype devices are stolen, a chaotic dream parade begins to bleed into reality, driven by a corrupted dream world. Atsuko, along with department chief Toratarō Shima and inventor Kōsaku Tokita, investigates the theft, discovering that the assistant Kei Himuro was merely a shell. The true mastermind is revealed to be the company chairman, Seijirō Inui, who seeks to protect dreams through dream therapy with Dr.
Morio Osanai. As more individuals fall victim to the stolen technology, the line between the subconscious and the waking world begins to blur dangerously. Meanwhile, a detective named Toshimi Konakawa seeks Paprika's help to decode a recurring, anxiety-inducing dream tied to his past as an aspiring filmmaker.
