Minions & Monsters plot recap, spoiler-light
Thousands of years ago, a prehistoric tribe of Minions accidentally kills off every villain they attempt to serve. Among them, an artistic Minion named James forms a close bond with Henry and Ed. After stumbling onto a 1927 movie set, the Minions charm studio executives Frank and Elwood Bright, leading to massive Hollywood stardom.
However, the arrival of sound films leaves the incomprehensible Minions unemployed, landing them in an abandoned factory. Rejecting the tribe leader Dick's search for a new master, James resolves to direct his own monster movie titled Minions & Monsters. Teaming up with Henry and Ed, James borrows a warlock's ancient spell book to summon realistic creatures.
Unfortunately, the spell releases a deceptive green creature named Goomi, who tricks James into freeing imprisoned sea monsters. Goomi secretly intends to use these beasts to summon a colossal, multi-eyed blob monster named Irene to destroy the earth. Meanwhile, Dick and the remaining Minions follow a supposed alien robot named Dort, who is busy trying to romantically pursue a women's rights activist named Debbie.
