Plunderer plot recap, spoiler-light
In a post-apocalyptic realm known as Alcia, human existence is entirely dictated by a numerical value called a Count stamped directly onto their bodies. This number reflects personal milestones or actions, determining strict social hierarchies where lower numbers must obey higher ones. Should an individual's Count ever deplete completely to zero, they are condemned to be permanently dragged away into the mysterious depths of the Abyss.
Young Hina Farrow wanders the landscape following her mother's final desperate wish, spending five years looking for the mythical Legendary Ace. She carries a heavy ball bearing a massive ten-thousand Count, an object later identified as an original Ballot. Her quest shifts dramatically when she crosses paths with a peculiar masked man named Licht Bach, whose Count sits at a negative nine hundred ninety-nine.
Licht proves to be a genuine Legendary Ace when he saves Hina from a fake Ace serving the Alcian Royal Army, though he initially denies being the hero she seeks. Together, they encounter various factions and begin uncovering a massive three-hundred-year-old conspiracy involving the governing Althing and the true history of the world.
