Rascal Does Not Dream of a Sister Venturing Out plot recap, spoiler-light
Following the events surrounding Shoko Makinohara, Sakuta Azusagawa is enjoying his time as his younger sister Kaede slowly begins stepping outside again. As December arrives and Sakuta's second year of high school nears its end, Kaede sets an ambitious goal for herself. She announces to her family and a school counselor that she wants to attend Minegahara High School, the exact same school her older brother attends.
However, the counselor gently reminds them of Kaede's extensive absences from her past struggles with Puberty Syndrome, suggesting an online-based alternative might be more realistic. This news sends Kaede retreating back into her room with doubt. Determined to help, Sakuta attends an online school orientation and gathers information while Mai, Nodoka, and Sakuta tutor Kaede for her upcoming entrance exams.
Though Kaede studies hard and submits her application, the pressure takes a severe toll on her mental and physical well-being. On the day of the exams, Kaede falls ill after running into a former classmate, triggering painful memories of past bullying and causing physical bruises to reappear from her previous affliction. She confronts Sakuta, questioning whether he truly supported her or merely missed the previous version of his sister.
