Rent-a-Girlfriend plot recap, spoiler-light
Kinoshita Kazuya is a twenty-year-old college student who suffers a painful emotional blow when his girlfriend, Mami Nanami, dumps him after just one month of dating. Completely heartbroken and spiteful, he decides to use a mobile application to rent a companion. This decision leads him to a meeting place where he encounters Chizuru Mizuhara, a stunning young woman with long black hair.
Their initial meeting is rocky because Kazuya openly calls out her overly authentic acting persona. However, their arrangement quickly spirals out of control due to family circumstances. Kazuya's grandmother is suddenly hospitalized and becomes utterly enchanted by Chizuru, believing she is his genuine girlfriend.
To keep the elderly woman happy and prevent her from learning the truth, Kazuya and Chizuru are forced to maintain a fake relationship. Adding to their forced proximity, they soon discover they are next-door neighbors and attend the exact same university, setting up a tangled web of deception.
