A gamer wakes up inside the body of his online game avatar, a powerful knight named Arc whose true appearance is a skeleton. Determined to conceal his terrifying form beneath heavy armor, Arc travels to a nearby town and becomes a mercenary after saving two women from bandits. Along the way, he heals a rare green-furred fox he names Ponta.
He soon crosses paths with an elven warrior named Ariane Glenys Maple, who enlists his aid in rescuing enslaved elf children in the city of Diento. After successfully liberating captives from a local warehouse and the lord's castle, Arc reveals his skeletal face to Ariane. Though initially startled, she accepts him and promises to keep his secret.
Traveling to the elvish settlement of Lalatoya, Arc is officially hired to continue rescuing elves and is promised information regarding a magical pool that might cure his condition. He is soon joined by a beast-person ninja named Chiyome, who shares a similar mission. Meanwhile, political intrigue brews in the Rhoden Kingdom as Princess Yuriarna investigates noble involvement in the slave trade, uncovering dangerous power struggles among her brothers. As the group presses onward, they discover that the illicit slave network is merely a fraction of a deeper conspiracy tied to the Holy East Revlon Kingdom and the Holy Hilk Kingdom.
