Soul Eater plot recap, spoiler-light
Soul Eater unfolds at the Death Weapon Meister Academy, situated in Death City, Nevada, where human weapons and their meister wielders train under the supervision of Shinigami, also known as Death. Students such as Maka Albarn and Soul Eater, Black Star and Tsubaki Nakatsukasa, and Death the Kid alongside Liz and Patty Thompson strive to elevate their weapons into Death Scythes by consuming the souls of ninety-nine evil humans and a single witch. The initial major conflict arises when the witch Medusa and her child, Crona, attempt to resurrect Asura, the primordial kishin who once drove the world to the brink of madness.
Despite resistance from the students, Asura is successfully revived and escapes to unleash chaos. This event triggers further turmoil, including the emergence of Arachnophobia led by Medusa's sister, Arachne, and Medusa's subsequent betrayal after a temporary truce with DWMA. Following numerous battles, the formation of the student unit Spartoi, and Noah's defeat, Maka turns Soul into a Death Scythe using Arachne's soul. Soon after, Crona kills Medusa and succumbs to insanity, leading DWMA to discover Asura hiding on the moon.
