The narrative begins in the fictional city of Tsutsujidai, where a first-year high school student named Yuta Hibiki wakes up with amnesia. He hears a voice from an old computer urging him to remember his calling. Soon after, massive monsters known as kaiju begin attacking the city.
When these attacks happen, Yuta discovers he can merge with the Hyper Agent Gridman from the computer screen to fight the threats. He teams up with his classmates Rikka Takarada and Sho Utsumi to form the Gridman Alliance. They are later joined by mysterious entities who can transform into weapons for Gridman to wield in battle.
