Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead plot recap, spoiler-light
Twenty-four-year-old Akira Tendo suffers through an utterly exploitative job at a harsh marketing firm, leaving him completely drained and devoid of personal motivation. When an unexpected zombie outbreak takes over Tokyo, Akira manages to find a silver lining that completely changes his outlook. Rather than feeling terrified of the flesh-eating hordes outside, he views the catastrophe as a liberating escape from his depressing daily grind.
Deciding to reclaim his agency, Akira compiles a comprehensive bucket list containing one hundred things he wants to accomplish before he eventually turns into a zombie himself. As he sets out to check off these goals, he encounters old and new faces alike. He reunites with his estranged college friend Kencho, who dreams of becoming a stand-up comedian.
Soon after, they are joined by Shizuka, a cautious and pragmatic woman fleeing her own oppressive background, and Beatrix, a German exchange student deeply passionate about Japanese culture. Together, this eccentric group travels across a dangerous, zombie-filled Japan, crossing off various bizarre and joyful bucket list items while confronting personal fears and forging deep bonds.
