Blast plot recap, spoiler-light
Set in the year 2004, the narrative follows Rajaram, who operates a karate school right out of his residence. Sharing this home are his wife Neelaveni, who works as a tailor, his younger brother Ilango, who runs a medical shop, and their daughter Nila, who holds a white-collar job. Every single member of this household possesses hidden training in karate.
Rajaram consistently pushes his daughter to defend herself and anyone else in need, a philosophy that frequently draws her into physical altercations much to the dismay of Neelaveni. Because of this constant fighting, Neelaveni extracts a promise from Nila to steer clear of all future brawls and simply let matters go. Elsewhere in the story, a corrupt businessman named Varun Dhayalan attempts to set up a Black Opal mining enterprise, a venture that threatens to completely destroy an entire village.
To help handle the money laundering aspects of this scheme, Varun employs a solitary criminal and assassin known as Abraham. During one night, Abraham suffers a minor car accident, loses consciousness, and is brought to a hospital for medical attention. Inspector Arunagiri receives the task of discovering Abraham's true identity and ensuring he gets the necessary care.
Once he wakes up, however, Abraham promptly murders the police constables guarding him and flees to meet up with a notorious gangster named Kirubakaran, with whom Abraham is currently collaborating for Varun's overarching objective. Meanwhile, one of Kirubakaran's henchmen named Toby goes to Ilango's medical shop to purchase medicines for Abraham. While running this errand, Toby attempts to snatch Nila's chain, prompting Nila to brutally beat him up.
