Crime 101 plot recap, spoiler-light
In Los Angeles, a disciplined thief named Mike executes high-stakes heists along the 101 freeway, carefully avoiding violence. After a diamond score leaves him grazed by a bullet, he attempts to retire, but his fence Money employs a volatile young biker named Ormon for subsequent jobs. Meanwhile, observant LAPD Detective Lou Lubesnick connects the robberies to a single perpetrator despite departmental dismissal.
Elsewhere, Sharon, a neglected high-end insurance broker, grows deeply frustrated with her firm's lack of recognition. Mike begins a romance with Maya following a minor traffic collision, but this relationship soon faces strain due to Mike's secretive lifestyle. Money and Ormon complicate matters further by tracking Mike and uncovering his connection to Sharon, whom Mike eventually recruits for inside information regarding a massive cash and diamond exchange planned by the wealthy Steven Monroe for his upcoming wedding. As Lou continues his rogue investigation despite a departmental suspension and personal turmoil, all three narrative paths steadily converge on a high-end hotel suite.
