Desert Warrior plot recap, spoiler-light
Set in seventh-century Arabia, Desert Warrior follows the conflict sparked when Emperor Kisra of the Persian Sassanian Empire demands local kings surrender their wives as concubines. King Numan of the Lakhmids refuses, prompting the emperor to send general Jalabzeen to hunt down Numan and his daughter, Princess Hind. During their flight across the desert, Numan and Hind encounter a cynical bandit named Hanzala, who agrees to help them escape in exchange for royal gold.
After seeking refuge with the Shaybani tribe, political pressure forces chieftain Hani to surrender Numan to the pursuing Persian agents. Numan is taken to the capital of Ctesiphon and executed for rebellion. Left on their own, Hanzala trains Princess Hind in combat, transforming her into a capable fighter.
The duo returns to the former Lakhmid capital of Hira, where Hanzala slays the Persian commander, inspiring the local townspeople to start an uprising. Hind claims the throne as Queen of the Lakhmids, and news of her father's brutal death motivates several other fractured tribes, including the Shaybani, Ghanim, and Kanifa, to put aside their differences and band together under her leadership for an upcoming confrontation against the Sassanian occupiers at the oasis of Ze Qar.
