Hellcat plot recap, spoiler-light
In the film Hellcat, the story follows three distinct women navigating personal and romantic hurdles. Twenty-seven-year-old Ah-mi works endlessly on her seventeenth screenplay rewrite while living with her older sister. Struggling financially and creatively, she balances a relationship with a broke musician named Won-suk and a new blind date with a successful accountant named Seung-won.
Meanwhile, her forty-year-old sister Young-mi enjoys her life as an independent interior designer and single mother. Young-mi starts working with a theatre company, catching the romantic interest of a much younger actor named Kyoung-soo, though she wrestles with personal insecurities after learning she is entering menopause. Rounding out the household is Young-mi's teenage daughter, Kang-ae, a bright high schooler determined to share her first kiss with her longtime boyfriend, Ho-jae.
With coaching from her dating-expert best friend Mi-ran, Kang-ae attempts to execute a carefully planned romantic strategy. The setup weaves together these generational perspectives, establishing a rich backdrop of familial bonds, career ambitions, and dating mishaps that set the stage for the final act.
