Kraken plot recap, spoiler-light
A chilling video showing hundreds of salmon beaching themselves at a farming facility in the Sognefjord prompts food safety inspector Johanne to investigate. She reunites with her former lover Erik, the co-inventor of Sonic Lice, a parasite removal system used at the farm owned by Jostein. Jostein aims to secure a major deal with visiting Japanese investors, ignoring ecological warnings.
Jostein's daughter Maria previously recorded the beaching footage to expose the dangers of Sonic Lice and hopes Johanne will help shut the operation down, though Johanne initially intends only to file a report. As unexplained deaths multiply across the fjord, Johanne and Erik uncover bizarre giant creatures resembling oversized salmon lice, leading them to suspect these parasites feed on a colossal marine beast. Seeking drastic action, Maria, Cato, and Hallvard attempt to sabotage the Sonic Lice array.
The situation turns fatal when the massive entity attacks Cato underwater, killing him and preventing fishery worker Georg from shutting down the system. The furious beast dislodges the entire facility, casting it adrift into the fjord with Johanne, Erik, Maria, Hallvard, Georg, and Jostein trapped aboard.
