While vacationing in Italy, American couple Ben and Louise Dalton and their preteen daughter Agnes befriend a charming British family, Paddy and Ciara, along with their mute son Ant. Sometime later, the Daltons accept an invitation to spend the weekend at Paddy and Ciara remote farmhouse in Devon. Upon arrival, the holiday initially feels welcoming, but the hosts quickly begin displaying increasingly inappropriate and unsettling behavior.
They aggressively treat Ant and cross boundaries during meals and late-night gatherings, leaving the Daltons deeply uncomfortable. Although the Daltons attempt to leave early after witnessing alarming events, a forgotten stuffed animal forces them to return. They decide to stay briefly to keep the peace.
However, Agnes and Ant uncover a hidden shed containing luggage and photographs of previous families, revealing a horrifying truth. Paddy and Ciara are serial killers who lure vacationers to their home, murder them, and keep their children. Armed with this terrifying knowledge, the Daltons try to orchestrate a peaceful exit, but their hosts discover the secret and trap them.
