Fuuko Izumo lives in seclusion after an unluck ability causes a tragedy that kills her parents and hundreds of others. Convinced her power brings doom to anyone she touches, she plans to end her life once her favorite shoujo manga concludes. Instead, she encounters an immortal, regenerative man who wants to die and calls him Andy.
Their meeting draws the attention of the Union, a secret group of people possessing supernatural negating abilities. An assassin named Shen informs them they can stop being hunted by joining the Union's team of ten special individuals. Fuuko and Andy decide to join, hoping the organization can help Andy achieve his ultimate wish for the best death possible.
They soon become entangled in dangerous missions assigned by a talking, supernatural book named Apocalypse. These quests require them to hunt Unidentified Mysterious Animals, which embody the Earth's rules created by God. Alongside their battles against UMAs, they also clash with a rival faction of Negators called Under and divine beings known as Regulators who execute God's bidding.
