From a young age, Kimihiko Kimizuka possesses an uncanny knack for stumbling into bizarre and troublesome situations, ranging from accidental flash mobs to underworld drug deals. While in his third year of junior high, he gets kidnapped and forced to transport a mysterious suitcase aboard an international flight. On this plane, he crosses paths with Siesta, a striking and brilliant young woman who introduces herself as a legendary detective.
Despite his initial reluctance, Kimihiko is drafted into service as her assistant to help foil a hijacking attempt. This chaotic encounter exposes him to a hidden world of dangerous syndicates and secret organizations. Following the incident, Kimihiko formally joins Siesta, and the pair spend the next three years traveling the globe together to solve countless baffling cases.
Now a high school senior, Kimihiko attempts to live a normal routine while wrestling with the memories of his partner. Because of her passing, he strongly rejects the title of detective, frequently reminding himself and others that the detective is already dead.
