V plot recap, spoiler-light
In the near future, Britain is ruled by the Norsefire fascist regime led by High Chancellor Adam Sutler, which maintains control through fear, propaganda, and the elimination of undesirables. Evey Hammond, a BTN employee whose parents died as anti-government activists, is rescued from the secret police by a masked vigilante known as V. After witnessing V bomb the Old Bailey, Evey is taken by him to avoid arrest.
V proceeds to assassinate key figures responsible for the regime's rise, including Lewis Prothero, Anthony Lilliman, and Dr. Delia Surridge. Chief Inspector Eric Finch investigates the killings, uncovering that Norsefire gained power by staging biological terrorist attacks using a weaponized virus developed at the Larkhill Detention Facility, where the prisoner who became V was subjected to experiments.
Meanwhile, Evey seeks refuge with her boss Gordon Dietrich, who is later arrested and executed for satirizing Sutler. Evey is subsequently captured and tortured by V himself in an effort to free her from fear. Realizing the truth of her ordeal, Evey pledges to reunite with V on November 5, while V arranges his final surrender with Creedy.
