Beetlejuice Beetlejuice plot recap, spoiler-light
Following the tragic death of Charles Deetz in a shark attack, three generations of the Deetz family return to Winter River. Lydia, now hosting a paranormal talk show called Ghost House, remains estranged from her skeptical daughter Astrid. Meanwhile, Lydia faces pressure from her selfish boyfriend and producer, Rory, to marry him on Halloween.
In the Netherworld, the mischievous Betelgeuse continues to scheme for a wedding with Lydia while evading his deadly, soul-draining ex-wife, Delores LaFerve. Astrid meets a local boy named Jeremy, but soon discovers he is actually a ghost who murdered his parents. Jeremy persuades Astrid to accompany him to the Afterlife so she can see her father, planning to use her so he can live again.
Desperate to rescue her daughter, Lydia has no choice but to summon Betelgeuse for assistance. In exchange for his help navigating the afterlife and saving Astrid from the Soul Train, Betelgeuse demands that Lydia finally honor their decades-old agreement and marry him.
