Bubble plot recap, spoiler-light
In a near future Tokyo isolated by a massive explosion at Tokyo Tower, gravity defying bubbles have rendered the city uninhabitable for normal society. Despite the danger, orphaned youths occupy the abandoned metropolis, using high stakes parkour tournaments to trade for essential supplies. Among them is Hibiki, an exceptionally talented eighteen year old runner for the Blue Blazes team.
Hibiki suffers from severe hearing ultrasensitivity, causing him to isolate himself from others until he begins hearing a mysterious and alluring song emanating from the restricted Tokyo Tower. Driven by this haunting melody, Hibiki makes a reckless ascent toward the tower, but the dangerous gravity anomalies cause him to plummet into the ocean below. Instead of drowning, his final breath interacts with the strange bubbles to manifest a mysterious young girl who quickly learns human ways.
Hibiki names her Uta, recognizing that she knows the exact song echoing in his mind. The two form a powerful connection as they train and compete together, sharing quiet moments that reveal deeper feelings, even as a fresh wave of destructive bubble activity threatens their fragile existence.
