Dracula plot recap, spoiler-light
In late fifteenth century Eastern Europe, Prince Vlad of Wallachia shares a deep and profound love with his wife, Princess Elisabeta. When the Ottoman Army threatens his kingdom, Vlad departs for war after begging his priest to ensure his wife is spared. Tragically, Elisabeta is ambushed and killed while riding near the castle, and Vlad arrives just too late to save her.
Devastated by this immense loss, a grieving Vlad renounces God, declaring that his life no longer belongs to the divine until his wife is returned to him. This act of defiance curses him into becoming the immortal warlord Dracula. Over the next four hundred years, Dracula searches tirelessly for his wife's reincarnation, creating vampiric agents and crafting a special perfume to help in his quest.
In 1889, during a real estate meeting with Paris solicitor Jonathan Harker, Dracula realizes that Harker's fiancée, Mina, is the exact reincarnation he has spent centuries looking for. After locking Harker away in his castle, Dracula travels to Paris to claim her.
