Nosferatu plot recap, spoiler-light
A lonely young girl named Ellen inadvertently contacts a dark, powerful entity through her prayers, forging a deep psychic link. Years later in 1838 Germany, Ellen is married to Thomas Hutter. Thomas travels to Transylvania on business for Herr Knock to sell a ruined property to the reclusive Count Orlok.
Unbeknownst to Thomas, Knock serves the vampire. At the remote castle, Thomas cuts his hand during dinner, causing Orlok to fixate on a locket containing Ellen's hair. Thomas discovers bite marks on his chest and later finds Orlok sleeping in a decaying coffin.
Fleeing in terror, Thomas falls into a river and is rescued by nuns who explain Orlok's demonic origins. Orlok boards a ship filled with plague rats and sails for Wisburg. Back home, Ellen suffers violent seizures while her doctor consults an occult expert, von Franz, who identifies the demonic influence. Orlok arrives in Wisburg, bringing a devastating plague and terrorizing the town, setting the stage for a tragic final confrontation.
