Gachiakuta plot recap, spoiler-light
In the floating world known as the Sphere, society is harshly divided between a wealthy upper class and poor tribesfolk living near the outer walls. Both groups carelessly throw their unwanted items into a massive abyss called the Pit. Rudo Surebrec, a young tribesman raised by his foster father Regto, spends his days salvaging discarded goods and despising the upper class's extreme wastefulness.
One fateful day, Rudo returns home to discover Regto brutally murdered. Blamed for the crime because of his heritage, Rudo faces a swift and unjust trial, resulting in his execution-style exile into the depths of the Pit. Instead of dying in the endless expanse of garbage, Rudo survives the fall and awakens in a toxic wasteland.
He is immediately attacked by monstrous creatures known as Trash Beasts, which are born from Anima energy accumulated from thoughts and emotion. A mysterious man named Enjin rescues Rudo and reveals that the Pit is actually a populated surface world called the Ground. Enjin helps Rudo awaken his latent abilities as a Giver, paving the way for his recruitment into the Cleaners.
