In the idyllic town of Bayleen Bay, a mysterious silent man begins operating an ice cream truck that quickly wins over the local children with sweet treats. Lactose-intolerant Jared Mayfair stays away from the desserts and soon grows deeply unsettled when he notices the driver following him and observes the other kids falling into a strange trance while watching cartoon videos. That very night, the enchanted children violently turn on their parents.
The next day, chaos erupts across the town and inside the local school as the possessed youth target all remaining adults and try to force-feed treats to any survivors. Jared teams up with classmates Tommy and Mia, who also managed to avoid the treats, and they barricade themselves inside the school. Meanwhile, Jared's teenage sister Lizzie accidentally consumes the treat meant for Jared, paralyzes herself temporarily, but manages to purge it by vomiting. After escaping a home attack, Lizzie and her ex-boyfriend Chris head toward the local church, where Jared, Tommy, and Mia also flee after escaping the school.
