Pinocchio: Unstrung plot recap, spoiler-light
Following a tragic car crash, young James goes to live with his grandfather Geppetto. To comfort his grieving grandson, Geppetto crafts a sentient wooden puppet named Pinocchio, whose nose grows whenever he lies. As Pinocchio develops a brotherly bond with James, he is visited by a disfigured Wood Mother who teaches him that he needs human organs to become a real boy.
After a drunk driver crashes into their taxi, Pinocchio embarks on a violent killing spree to harvest body parts, guided by a sinister humanoid Cricket and his Wood Mother. James, alongside his friends Mia and Dudley, discovers disturbing videotapes detailing Geppetto's previous failed experiments with other wooden puppets. Pinocchio ruthlessly targets James's high school bullies and their partners, murdering them to collect flesh, teeth, and organs.
Eventually, Geppetto takes Pinocchio home to repress him, leading the puppet to realize his mentors manipulated him into slaying innocents. James, Mia, and Dudley arrive at the basement just as Geppetto prepares to destroy the wooden creation, setting off the chaotic final confrontation.
