Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind plot recap, spoiler-light
Set a thousand years after an apocalyptic war known as the Seven Days of Fire, the earth is dominated by the Toxic Jungle, a poisonous forest guarded by giant mutant insects called Ohm. In the peaceful kingdom known as the Valley of the Wind, the compassionate 16-year-old Princess Nausicaä seeks a way for humans and the jungle to coexist. Her peaceful life is upended when a Tolmekian cargo aircraft crashes in the Valley, carrying the embryo of a Giant Warrior, a devastating bioweapon from the ancient past.
Soon after, Tolmekian forces led by Princess Kushana invade, killing Nausicaä's father and taking control of the Valley. Kushana intends to use the resurrected Giant Warrior to burn away the toxic forest. Nausicaä is later captured and taken toward Pejite, but their airships are shot down, plunging Nausicaä and Kushana into the jungle below.
Stranded, Nausicaä discovers that the toxic plants actually purify the polluted earth, storing clean water deep underground. When she reaches Pejite, she discovers that local survivors plan to lure an angry herd of Ohm to wipe out the Tolmekian occupiers and the Valley people alike.
