Shortly after they decide to commit to each other, Almut receives an ovarian cancer diagnosis. Opting for a partial hysterectomy to preserve her chances of starting a family, she beats the disease into remission. The couple joyfully welcomes a baby girl named Ella, delivered unexpectedly in a petrol station bathroom during a traffic jam.
Three years of family life follow, spent living together on a small cottage and farm. However, the domestic tranquility changes when Almut experiences severe abdominal pain, signaling that her cancer has returned at stage 3. Faced with treatment options and a grim prognosis, Almut simultaneously receives an invitation to compete in the prestigious Bocuse d'Or cooking competition. The couple struggles to balance the demands of her failing health, chemotherapy and surgery, and the intense pressures of the upcoming culinary event.
