In the film Spider Island, a nightclub manager named Gary Webster and his assistant Georgia transport a group of women from New York City to dance in Singapore. Disaster strikes when their aircraft catches fire over the Pacific Ocean, splits apart, and crashes into the sea. Days later, the exhausted survivors drift onto the shores of a tropical island in search of fresh water.
While exploring their new surroundings, they stumble upon a secluded cabin containing a corpse trapped within a massive spider web. They also discover a journal left behind by a man named Professor Green, detailing his uranium mining research and expressing dread about impending doom. Finding enough canned supplies to last roughly a month, the group settles in for a prolonged stay.
Tensions flare almost immediately on the very first night when Georgia grows jealous over Gary kissing Linda, leading to a physical altercation on the porch. Gary wanders away into the dark jungle alone, unaware of the dangers ahead.
