The Last Dance plot recap, spoiler-light
During the pandemic, debt-ridden wedding planner Dominic transitions into the funeral industry by taking over his girlfriend Jade's uncle's business. He immediately clashes with Master Man, a sternly traditional Taoist priest who strictly adheres to ancient customs. Dominic tries to modernize the parlour with commercial gimmicks and custom requests, which continually frustrates Man.
Tensions peak when Dominic accepts a bizarre mummification request for a grieving mother, leading Man to step in and save the process while teaching Dominic about the spiritual consequences of obstructing reincarnation. Gradually, Dominic gains respect for the profession through rigorous training, earning Man's approval and sharing personal stories over dinner. Meanwhile, family friction plagues Man's household due to his rigid views, especially regarding his son Ben and paramedic daughter Yuet.
A family fight triggers a stroke for Man, leading to hospitalization and forcing the family to confront their deep-seated resentments, including Ben's hidden baptism and secret desire to migrate. Despite his medical setback, Man slowly begins to soften toward Yuet before his eventual passing, leaving Dominic with the responsibility of the parlour.
