Fjord plot recap, spoiler-light
In the drama Fjord, engineer Mihai Gheorghiu and his nurse wife Lisbet relocate from Romania to a remote Norwegian village with their five children to live near Lisbet's family. As devout evangelical Christians, they settle into a quiet routine and befriend their neighbors, the Halbergs, which includes headmaster Mats, attorney Mia, daughter Noora, and grandfather Åke. Their fragile peace shatters when teacher and child services worker Frida notices bruises on young Elia and reports the family for suspected abuse.
Following Mihai's admission that he spanks his children, Child Services removes all the children and places them in foster care, launching both investigative and legal battles. The parents initially struggle to secure legal representation until Mia agrees to help them after suspecting a language barrier caused misunderstandings. Driven by mounting frustration, Mihai sparks an international campaign with help from conservative Christian groups and the Romanian embassy. At the final hearing, Mia argues that the bruising might stem from wrestling or fighting, resulting in a conditional return of the children pending a criminal trial.
