Madison Ralph works as a dishwasher at a trendy Los Angeles test kitchen called Gourmaybe while dreaming of becoming a chef. Her life changes overnight when her husband Jake posts a video of her cooking on TikTok, catapulting her to viral fame. Her lecherous boss Zack promotes her to an on-camera personality, thrusting her into the spotlight.
However, this success intensifies Maddie's deep-seated body insecurities as she faces critical online comments, insults from an arrogant fellow chef named Emily, and vicious remarks from her estranged mother Beverlee. The mounting pressure peaks when producers from the popular TV show The Boar visit to scout a culinary consultant, forcing Maddie to compete directly with Emily. Struggling to cope, Maddie suffers a severe relapse of her bulimia nervosa.
She attempts to hide her worsening condition from her loved ones, even lying to Jake that she is pregnant when he catches her purging. Her best friend Deena tries to support her through cooking and dance classes, but resentment grows between them.
