In the horror film Infirmary, an FBI public service announcement introduces recovered bodycam and security footage from Wilshire Infirmary in 2023. Recently discharged ex-Marine Edward Yoon takes his first night shift as a security guard at the abandoned psychiatric hospital. He works alongside Lester Wooley, a cynical former cop and senior guard, and Ms Downey, an administrator who displays strange catatonic behavior.
During a building tour, Lester subjects Edward to a harsh hazing ritual by locking him inside a mortuary refrigerator with a bloodied mannequin head. Lester shares the facility's grim history of cruel medical experimentation on patients. Later, the pair spots an intruder on the security monitors.
After Lester confronts her over the tannoy system, the intruder smashes a camera. Lester and Edward search the premises, assuming she escaped through a broken window. When a sudden power outage plunges the building into darkness, Lester heads down to the basement to flip the breaker switch, leaving Edward alone in the surveillance room.
