Union County plot recap, spoiler-light
In the film Union County, Cody Parsons enters a county-mandated drug court program in rural Ohio while battling severe opiate addiction amid the local epidemic. Homeless and living out of his car, Cody relies on his foster brother Jack, who is also navigating the recovery system. Jack helps Cody secure employment at a lumber yard, and Cody soon meets Anna at a bonfire party.
However, Jack struggles to maintain sobriety and soon fails a routine drug test, facing strict warnings from the presiding judge about potential jail time. Following a noticeable shift in Jack's demeanor, the brothers seek out a drug dealer to purchase heroin. After injecting the substance, Cody blacks out and crashes his car into a tree, waking up to find Jack missing and his vehicle destroyed.
Forced to wander through the rural landscape, Cody breaks into an empty house to sleep, only to be discovered the next morning by his young niece. Katrina, Cody's sister, alerts his probation officer, leading to Cody's immediate arrest and subsequent placement in a jail detox unit.
