One Night Only plot recap, spoiler-light
In a United States where premarital sex is outlawed for all but one designated 12-hour night tracked by wrist tattoos, pizza shop owner Owen plans to propose to his girlfriend Malika. Instead, Malika reveals her plan to sleep with someone else in their apartment, leaving Owen heartbroken. Meanwhile, cover singer Allie ventures out with her friend Jacinta to find a meaningful encounter, but Jacinta quickly abandons her for another partner.
Owen's mother Linda kicks him out to spend the evening with her own partner, Rick, leaving Owen to wander the neighborhood. Allie deals with superficial suitors at a bar before singing with a piano player. After a series of chaotic misadventures involving a $200 condom, a mugging in Brooklyn Bridge Park, and an aborted police station visit, Owen and Allie cross paths repeatedly.
They eventually team up to crash a lavish party, where Owen attracts a wealthy woman named Vivian and Allie encounters her musical idol, Ezra Strong. Following awkward and disastrous encounters with both Vivian and Ezra, Owen and Allie retreat separately to Owen's pizza shop to share a meal.
